Academic Programs

The need for the program The medical work and / or activity in Georgia has a centuries-old history, though the formal teaching in the field is about 100 years old due to historical disasters in this part of Europe; At this time, the development of medical education as a science was less important.

Consequently, the country has “discovered” for the last 25 years that in this aspect it is quick and clear to take steps based on an already existing international experience to address the challenges in the epoch of globalization: Develop and promote the development of others. Consequently, the strategy of the Government of Georgia to facilitate the attraction of foreign entrants is correct and not only for changes but also on development.

There are many arguments out there, and both are sufficient: (1) Georgian students (as well as foreigners) have the opportunity to learn and develop a competitive environment; (2) Georgian teachers (including those engaged in medical education) have greater contact and opportunity to accumulate their experience.

University plans to implement Medical Doctor One-Level Academic Program

The educational program of the Medical Faculty of the Medical Faculty of the East-West Teaching University was created by the program development group, representatives of the elected academic staff and administration of the university, as well as representatives of the Medical Education Center of David Tvildiani Medical University (DTSU); The DDU Medical Center was created within the framework of the EU-funded Tempus (Eurasmus +) project (e-PBL-net) and aims to establish the best international practice in medical education in Georgia;

The DTSU Medical Education Center will be involved in all the stages of the curriculum development and participation in the process, in accordance with the purpose and within its competence (see also DSU and Memorandum of Cooperation with the East-West Teaching University);

The curriculum is the product of collective labor, judgment and discussion of all members of the group and is based on the experience accumulated in the field of medical education, but at the same time modern approaches in international practice, as well as knowledge received in the e-PBL-net project

Furthermore, it is also important for the sustainability of the program as well as the issue of post-graduate work, and the university’s task correctly responds to the 21st century challenges: According to the World Health Organization, the number of doctors in Europe will increase by 600,000 by 2030. In all regions of the world there is a demand for a doctor; In addition to the whole world (except the US and Europe) profession is now deficient and approximately 2.6 million doctors are “missing” the world.

Finally, the development of the country in every aspect and first of all in the field of education, the need to deepen co-operation at the national level needs to increase competitiveness towards the rest of the countries, which the universities need as the most important institution of the country. The joint development of this program is an example of this mutual cooperation. Program The diploma of the Medicare educational program includes one-step integrated medical education, where the graduate degree is awarded to the academic degree of the diploma.

Teaching is conducted in Georgian and English languages.

Access to the program is carried out in accordance with the procedure for the recognition, suspension and termination of the status of student in a one-sided higher education program, mobility, and recognition of education received during the course of study.
